Soo.. Fanime 2014, always a love and hate relationship with this convention. Always great people and great cosplayers but this year the Artist Alley room we were given was rather small compared to previous years. I had gripes with last year's venue at the huge tent but after this year's experience, I would much rather move back to the tent. Lots of my artist friends (both legacy artists and recent artists I met) were actually unable to attend because the AA max table count was lower then previous years and a new jury system was implemented at the last minute. They really cut it close this year in terms of AA registration and the line just to pick up my badge was pretty horrendous so as a result I had a pretty hard time setting up on Day 1 of Fanime. Hoping next year is more organized along with a bigger venue for Artist Alley.
As for Anime Expo 2014, this is probably my favorite convention of the year. I always have fun even if I am behind my table for most of the time. I noticed there were a lot more out of country participants this time around for the Artist Alley as well as out of country attendees. I debuted a couple of my larger projects along with additional regular characters that I have been working on for the past few months. Very glad that everyone stopped and stared in awe every once in a while, it must mean I am doing something right lol. The attendance this year was through the roof from what I saw, lots of long lines and people of all ages. I didn't get a chance to check out everything I wanted to, I missed out on getting a GG Xrd T-shirt, didn't get a chance to meet with the members of Cloud 9 & Team Diginitas, and I even missed the Mega64 booth which was right near the front of the exhibitor hall. Hopefully I'll get another chance next year.
